Company History

Garrity Printing is a winner today due to the hard work and dedication of a family of winners who have devoted their lives to quality printing. If the term "self-made businessman" was included in the dictionary there would surely be a picture of Pat Garrity beside the definition. Garrity entered the printing business immediately after his graduation from high school as a press helper at one of New Orleans' leading printing companies. Before long, he was promoted to head pressman on the night shift, operating one of the few two color presses in the city at that time. Over the next several years Garrity worked at several other local printing companies, mastering all phases of the production process along the way. It was during these early years that he learned the most important lesson of his career...that in order to be a successful printer you must first invest in the best people, and then in the finest equipment.

In the late Seventies and early Eighties, Pat noted that the leading printing company in New Orleans was moving in to 40" sheet-size market leaving a niche in the high quality, short-run, four color sector. He decided to fill that void by creating a company that would occupy the position between the quick copy printer and industry giants.

In January of 1984, Garrity Printing was opened in the garage of the Garrity home. Six months later it had outgrown the space and was moved to an 1,800 square foot plant space. Two years later, with sales nearing a half-million dollars per year, Garrity Printing moved again, this time to a 5,000 square-foot space. It was this time that Pat's wife, Roseann, joined the company to handle inside sales, purchasing and accounting, freeing Pat to concentrate on printing.

Today, Garrity Printing enjoys sales in excess of 6 million dollars a year, employs a staff of 60 veteran printing professionals, and occupies a 40,000 square foot operations space. And it all started 17 years ago in their garage with Pat and Roseann's son, Patrick, as their only helper.
